Brilliance Records and Jansen Plateproduksjon presents Sounds from Norway @ SXSW 2016

Torgeir Waldemar, Living, Spidergawd, Electric Eye, Death By Unga Bunga and Rytmeklubben

Icenhauer’s on Friday, March 18. Adress: 83 Rainey Street

8:00 – Torgeir Waldemar
American tradition has had a strong foothold in the Norwegian music scene for a while, and Torgeir Waldemar’s most recent LP is filled with amazing songs exploring folk and Americana. This album, which he released at 40, appeared on many Norwegian critics’ top ten lists in 2014. Although this may sound like a late start for a music career, age is nothing but a number here – Waldemar was nominated for the Grammy in Norway and has already played most major Norwegian festivals, including the internationally renowned Øyafestival.

9:00 – Living
Living is the project of Bergen-based producer and artist Lucas de Almeida. It started in 2015 as a solo project, but soon picked up bassist Nora Tårnesvik and drummer Sturla Kverneng for its energetic live performances. Living creates music for the body and soul by blending psychedelic and dreamy harmonies and melodies with groovy and tropical rhythms. Newest single “Cerulean” was recently premiered on The FADER upon its recent release via Brilliance Records.

10:00 – Spidergawd
Spidergawd’s most recent album, Spidergawd III, is one of a trio – so far – of LPs that seem to appear with alarming regularity: at least once a year, between numerous 7”s and what feels like constant touring. These guys are on fire, and you can hear it in every song and see it at every concert. A band that is self-confident enough to record their debut album during their fifth-ever rehearsal, they’ve since evolved even further and found their true voice, which is adventurous, energetic, and very immediate.

11:00 – Electric Eye
It’s fully possible to hear traces of the golden psychedelic reveries of the 60s and the lyrical and scenic progrock of the 70s in Electric Eye’s music. Different Sun (released February 5 via Jansen Plateproduksjon) is first and foremost proof of Electric Eye as a band who in every way are present in the moment, where they guide the listeners on a perpetual musical journey full of surprises. Fasten your seatbelts and look for a different sun!https://soundcloud.com/electriceye

12:00 – Death By Unga Bunga
Death by Unga Bunga are five nasty guys from Moss, the garage rock capital of Norway. Just like in fairytales, they formed with lead singer Sebastian Ulstad Olsen holding auditions in his own garage. Seeing them live is an experience you’ll never forget, an experience that’s best described as being hit by a rock’n’roll tornado. Pineapple Pizza, their fourth album in five years, will be out worldwide March 4 via Norwegian label Jansen Plateproduksjon. https://soundcloud.com/deathbyungabunga

01:00 – Rytmeklubben
Rytmeklubben is a Norwegian live group, production team, and DJ crew who make, play, and DJ club-oriented electronic music in concerts, remixes, original trarcks, DJ mixes, and club nights. As part of the up and coming electronic music scene in Norway, they find themselves among Cashmere Cat and similar artists who deliver a fresh approach. They blend elements from underground club music and merge them with pop sensibilities and pristine production, with the end result always sounding fresh and refined. https://soundcloud.com/rytmeklubben
