BABES FEST is a series of pop-up events, celebrating creative work made by women.
(all people, all genders welcome.)
Babes Fest is a music, film, arts and comedy festival produced by self-identified women, showcasing self-identified women and intended for audiences of all ages and genders. As you have probably experienced, read or Googled, women receive inadequate representation and coverage in the festival sphere. BABES FEST attempts to bridge that gap for the following reasons:
At times, women’s creative work is framed through the lens of their gender, the stereotypes of femaleness, as opposed to the value of the art they produce. Babes Fest wants to broaden this scope.
The entertainment, arts and media industries are tough. Babes Fest wants to encourage and invite women to continue showcasing their work—to hustle toward their creative ambitions, despite the obstacles at hand.
Babes Fest wants to celebrate the work women create with everyone. Because it’s THAT good.
WHY DOES BABES FEST USE THE TERM “SELF-IDENTIFIED WOMEN?”
Babes Fest believes the definition of “woman” is complex and varied and cannot be limited to the conventional, historical standards/expectations women have been held to. The women we showcase come from different backgrounds and share different cultures, sexual orientations, ethnicities, etc. Babes Fest celebrates that!
