Editor’s note: This is the eighth post in a series covering the best talent at the fest. Listen to these artists-to-watch now, and get them on your festival schedule. This list comes from @SXSWISLIFE.

Tei Shi
Valerie Teicher, best known by her stage name Tei Shi, is a singer-songwriter and producer currently based in Brooklyn. She incorporates the genres of shoegaze, indie pop, and R&B. Noisey describes Tei Shi’s music as a “layered masterpiece of melodies… expertly entwined vocal loops, and shivery sonics.”

Sonreal
SonReal is a young and independent artist from Vancouver, B.C. Canada. With his humbling attitude and social awareness, SonReal brings a distinctive quality to the Hip-Hop genre.

Emprss
For Ralph Allan, Leo Crossing and Johnny Goddard, Emprss is a creature of time and trust. They’ve explored both analogue and digital production and performance together since their early teens. Ralph’s intimate lyrics usher listeners through the dizzying procession of delusions, elations, and fraught nerves.

Elle Varner
Gabrielle Serene “Elle” Varner is an American Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Compared to Rihanna and Erykah Badu, Elle is an eclectic mix of pop, hip hop, and soul.

Sucré
With the crystalline vocals of Stacy King, Sucré writes the kind of dreamlike pop songs that get lodged into your head before the very first chorus even kicks in.

San Cisco
Australian indie-poppers San Cisco deliver tunes with a rough low-fi garage pop energy and continue to impress with their bright catchy hooks and depth of song writing. Lead singer Jordi Davieson says “San Cisco is a place situated between reality & a dream state. It is kind of like a huge cauldron we put all out creative input into, mix it together to make a super explosion of fantastic, wild creations. This is San Cisco.”

Elliphant
Ellinor Olovsdotter, known by her stage name Elliphant, is a Swedish singer and rapper. Elliphant’s sound was initially created together with the Swedish producer-duo ‘Jungle’. Her unique sound has been likened to a cross between M.I.A. and Diplo. The artist name Elliphant, is said to be a play on words between her name and the saying “Elephant in the room.”

The Kite String Tangle
The Kite String Tangle is the solo project of alternative electronic artist and producer, Danny Harley. Launched in May 2012, his venture is a seamless blend of ethereal pop through to the darker shades of ambient, electronic music.

Tokimonsta
Born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) was an unfocused pupil of classical piano. However, she has come to use this background to create vast textural soundscapes by utilizing live instruments, percussion, digital manipulation, and dusty vinyl. Through the creation of beats, she is able to fuse vintage sounds with progressive styles into something unique.

BEGINNERS
The Californian band Beginners was born in L.A.’s Wiltern Theater. They deliver elements of garage rock with dark electronic pop hooks that fans of Santigold, Cults, Phantogram, Tegan and Sara, and Chromatics will appreciate.
