Editor’s note: This is the eleventh post in a series covering the best talent at the fest. Listen to these artists-to-watch now, and get them on your festival schedule. This list comes from @SXSWISLIFE.

Reptar
Reptar is an American band from Athens, Georgia. Their sound is a mixture of African Music, post-punk, and psych-pop. The band’s name is taken from the Rugrats character Reptar, which singer/guitarist Graham Ulicny explained “I first tried to name the band Invisible Boyfriend, and everybody goes, ‘that is the stupidest name I have ever heard in my life.’

IamSu
Sudan Ameer Williams is an American rapper and record producer, better known by his stage name Iamsu! He is also a member of the production team The Invasion and the leader of the hip hop group The HBK Gang.

Tropics
Tropics is an electronic indie pop project from British singer/songwriter Chris Ward. Beginning in 2010, Ward introduced his dreamy, warmly melancholic sound that blends chillwave and electronic elements with organic piano and guitar-led pop songwriting.

Dessa
Easily one of the most well-rounded members of the Minneapolis-based hip-hop collective Doomtree, Dessa (aka Dessa Darling, born Margret Wander) first made a name for herself in the world of poetry slam, which would introduce her to the musical scene that made her a critical and popular darling of the Twin Cities music scene.

Zella Day
Zella Day is from the mountains of Arizona and the beaches of California. She takes her listeners through a blend of folk, country, and pop.

East India Youth
William Doyle, better known by his stage name East India Youth, is an electronic musician and multi-instrumentalist from Bournemouth, England. He connects the dots between Krautrock, ambient, Berlin-era Bowie, and dance culture via London’s Docklands.

Dej Loaf
Dej Loaf is an American rapper and singer from Detroit, Michigan. She began her music career in 2011, but rose to greater popularity in 2014 with her single “Try Me”, which initially attained viral internet popularity and has since peaked at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Shlohmo
Avant-garde hip-hop producer and Los Angeles native Henry Laufer goes by the alias Shlohmo. He started making music at the age of 14, and by 17 he was making cinematic beats in the same spirit as Flying Lotus, J-Roc, and Ras G.

Marina And The Diamonds
Marina Lambrini Diamandis is a Greek-Welsh singer, who performs under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds. Diamandis’ musical style ranges from keyboard-based ballads to up-tempo new wave-style songs with full band. She has cited a wide range of influences such as Blondie, Patti Smith, Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Elliott Smith, Dolly Parton, Britney Spears and Madonna.

The Weeknd
The Weeknd is Abel Tesfaye, a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and producer from Toronto. Since appearing on the scene in late 2010, he’s been shrouded in mystery, cultivating a mystique that baffles our gossip-obsessed pop culture.
