Interactive is really where it’s at this year — we’ve been surprised at the number of unofficial events with solid line-ups happening the week before Music takes over every venue. The Vivogig and DejaSet Unofficial SXSW Interactive Party has a DJ SET from Jo Mirasole (The Bright Light Social Hour), Fresh Millions, Sphynx, and instrumental darlings The Octopus Project all filling Swan Dive for a Saturday night party.
Check out the Vivogig site — you can upload music fest pics to document your SX experience to share with other music fans without creating (yet another) Facebook album of show photos that no one comments on. RSVP. Facebook Event.
The AV Club has Club DeVille for Saturday, March 17th, and this free, all-ages, no RSVP show includes Cymbals Eat Guitars, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and more — all hosted by Andrew WK (who we hear will be making quite a few unofficial party appearances).
We previously mentioned that Built to Spill seemed like the most-booked band of SX’12, but now that title might be going to Delta Spirit, who you probably will hear playing every venue from Maggie Mae’s to Rock Round. They’ll be joining Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jr at West 6th’s (once shuttered, now open to party) The Belmont for Epic Interactive sponsored by Deep Eddy Vodka, Jack Daniel’s, and Southern Comfort — the flyer implies we’ll all be surfin’ on a booze wave through downtown after attending this show. Do512 hosts the RSVP, and if you want first dibs on entry — just download either the AirCover or the Tabbedout app (and really, who better to throw a raging event than an app that protects your phone from being lost, and one that makes sure you don’t forget to close your bar tab).
