The list of official artists keep growing daily with over 1,000 bands and musicians on the list, but this list is more about who hasn’t been announced yet, but might play at the fest.

On to the rumors…

Big Sean will almost surely be returning to SX this year. In his own words from this video on ILLROOTS after his show at The ILLMORE last year “Imma be back in that bitch next year too, You already know.” With him at almost 100% this year at SX possible expect his girlfriend Ariana Grande to drop by the festival in some capacity as well with a gap in her schedule between her Houston show on 3/17 and her NY show on 3/20. If Ariana Grande does perform expect something along the lines of iTunes Festival (if this happens for 2015), a headline spot at Fader Fort, a cameo at AP Weekend, or even stopping by The ILLMORE Thursday night to hang out with her SO.

Bjork does have gaps between the series of shows she is playing in New York during music week — with that being said we are going to stick her in the improbable, but not impossible section. Bjork would make for a killer music keynote.

Rae Sremmurd had some of their first live shows ever at The ILLMORE last year. With a completely free schedule at the moment and a whole lot of hype surrounding them we see this as almost a for sure bet. Expect them at Fader Fort and The ILLMORE as well as a few other showcases during the week.

Skizzy Mars is also another hip-hop artist looking to have a breakout 2015. Completely open schedule at this time and just booked a show in Kansas on 3/14. Expect the SX announcement to come very soon.

A source has told us that The Neighborhood is floating the idea of playing 1 or 2 shows during this years festival. Hype Machine and Spotify come to mind but these guys would be a good fit in a few places. Be on the lookout for them dropping into a few of your favorite spots.

Riff Raff has almost become a staple of the festival with an appearance at some capacity almost every year. Looks like he has a show in France on 3/14, but has left his schedule open after that through April. With a new album out and Diplo and crew most likely returning for AP Weekend, unless he announces a European tour we fully expect a return of the NEON iCON. Question is, will he bring Hulk Hogan with him?

Drake’s new album is purportedly releasing this March. According to his tour schedule he has nothing between Dubai on 3/14 and Coachella in April. He seems to have taken a liking to the festival circuit this year. Here’s to hoping he drops by SXS to release a few new tracks.

Deadmau5 currently has no plans for a US tour but mentioned “the wheels are in motion for something special” in a recent Reddit AMA. Joel is no stranger to the festival and with talks of a new 20 minute version of Strobe to be released soon we are hoping this years festival will be that special place.

Makonnen has a completely clear schedule and is had quite the breakout year in 2014. The co-writer for the hit track “Wrist”, Father, is already confirmed for the festival and with a possibility of Drake this year as well we could see some of these collabs happen live. If we had to pick a spot Fader Fort is the perfect fit for the super chef.

Paramore recently announced an intimate concert series with Copeland kicking off in April. The only TX stops on the tour are Dallas and El Paso, we’re thinking there’s a chance she may come to Austin to preview some of this set at SX.

Neutral Milk Hotel has announced their final tour before going on hiatus. No TX dates to be found anywhere, Maybe they plan to start it off by saying goodbye to Austin at SX.

Always a good bet to check out the South By So What lineup as there is at least a few crossover acts every year.

Lana Del Rey has a new album “Honeymoon” in the works. She skipped the festival last year but has an open schedule, no Austin dates on her summer tour, and new material this year. We’ll list her as possible.

What’s SX without ASAP Rocky? Here’s to hoping he stops by with some fresh material off his upcoming album, after he plays BUKU.

Wu-Tang, after all these years of waiting, how are you going to start your shows off overseas? America is thirsty. Come to SX first.

Still many spring tours to be announced in the next month so stay tuned for more information as schedules are released.
