Well ladies and gentlemen, the SXSW prep is coming to a close. By this time next week, thousands will be headed to Austin for the glorious week of music that we’ve all been waiting for. In this next week, a lot is going to happen. Lineups will be dropping, rumors will be confirmed, and secret shows will be hinted at. Things are about to get crazy.

First, the newly confirmed artists. This includes Green Day, Passion Pit, Snoop Dogg/Lion, Pusha T, Big Sean, RZA, Ghostface Killa, Death Grips, T.I., Asher Roth, Tenacious D, They Might Be Giants, Big K.R.I.T., Danny Brown, Japandroids, Kool A.D., Solange, Cloud Nothings, Deer Tick, Trash Talk, Dizzy Wright, Kids These Days and a ton more. I know I’ve missed plenty.

On to the rumors…

The SXSW rumor that’s been the talk of the town for weeks has been Justin Timberlake… but it looks like this may actually be a reality. One of the promoters for ILLRoots/The ILLmore said via Twitter that they can confirm that JT will be making an appearance. Since then, I’ve talked to multiple sources and everyone has said the same thing: Timberlake is coming 3/16 and playing a small-capacity venue. While nothing is 100% confirmed until it’s announced, it looks like this is actually happening.

The second biggest rumor that’s been flying around is the return of the G.O.O.D. Music showcase presented by Kanye West. With Pusha T, Big Sean, Hit-Boy and Travi$ Scott being confirmed and Kid Cudi performing at BUKU, this is becoming more and more likely. Still no details on when or where this might go down, but this rumor seems to be a reality as well.

Earlier this week, Kings of Leon posted a link to a showcase being presented by the label they own Serpents and Snakes Records. Were they giving us a reason to believe they were coming, or just promoting a show by their label? A promoter for the show then tweeted “Big things coming for SXSW with Serpents and Snakes and Kings of Leon!” giving me a reason to believe that their return to SXSW might be happening.

SXSW vets The Shins added a show on March 19 in San Antonio, so it seems like a SXSW stop is likely.

Diplo tweeted that Major Lazer will be performing with the previously rumored Snoop Dogg/Lion on Thursday, 3/14, but no other details have been announced. Except we did get this text:

Hip-hop artist Devin the Dude will be performing in Dallas on 3/9 and then Austin on 3/20, so his SXSW presence is all-but-confirmed at this point.

Jack White‘s “Third Man Rolling Record Store,” a pop-up shop, will be returning to SXSW, specifically at Willie Nelson’s Heartbreaker Banquet. If you remember, in 2011 Jack White debuted his Rolling Record Store at SXSW and made a secret acoustic performance at its debut. Last year, White performed at the Third Man Records showcase with the mobile record store present. Could the return of the yellow van mean a return for White as well?

Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players are just teasing us at this point. Stevie Nicks and Corey Taylor are now speaking at SXSW, combine this with Dave announcing via a podcast that a SXSW show is likely, at this point it’s basically confirmed. However, Foo Fighters have been known to put on secret and last-minute-announced shows in the past at SX, so this might be what’s happening.

Miguel, who is touring with Alicia Keys, has a small, 1 day gap in his tour schedule on 3/16 before he plays Dallas and Houston.

English rock vets The Moody Blues have a gap in their tour on 3/14 right after San Antonio and Dallas.

Now that Green Day has been confirmed, it seems that their tour-mates Best Coast might be making a SXSW return. They’re also playing BUKU in New Orleans the weekend before which is filled with SXSW artists.

SXSW added “…and special guests” to Yelawolf‘s show on the schedule. Could this special guest be Yelawolf’s mentor Eminem, appearing like he did last year at 50 Cent‘s show? Or is it Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who Yelawolf made a collaborative EP with last fall?

We know the details on when deadmau5 is speaking, but still no details on when/where he will be performing (which was confirmed through sources a few weeks ago). On Hype Hotel‘s poster it includes a silhouette of deadmou5 standing in line. Is this a hint towards something?

And finally, onto probably-not-happening-but-we-still-have-to-talk-about-it-anyway news, there’s Daft Punk. The duo is rumored every single year and it hasn’t been true yet, but with their return being confirmed last week and with the mysterious teaser they released last night on SNL, they’re clearly hyping us for something, so it does seem a little more likely than in the past. Still not something to hold your breath over.

Get ready for a crazy week everyone. Keep on the lookout for lineups from Fader Fort, Brooklyn Vegan, The Night Supply dropping tomorrow (3/4) and the remaining lineups being announced throughout the week.
